Ethics group to sue President Trump over ‘conflicts of interest’

On Monday, the ethics group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington will be suing the President of the United States for conflicts of interest.

According to the group, the conflicts arise from his hotels, which accept money from foreign governments. Because of the money made from foreign influences, the group claims that Trump is in violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which states that presidents must avoid foreign influences such as gifts or money from other governments.

“We did not want to get to this point,” Noah Bookbinder, executive director of the group, said in a statement about the lawsuit.

However, the group feels they must go ahead with the suit, in order to preserve the Constitution.
