Recently, Melania Trump found herself at the center of a social media campaign called #FreeMelania after video of her smiling at her husband, Donald Trump, and then looking somber as soon as he turned away surfaced on the Internet.
The hashtag, as well as the fact that some like Chelsea Handler were taking shots at both Melania and her son, Barron, prompted a response from the president’s personal lawyer, as Melania has remained silent in the wave of criticism.
“Shame on Chelsea Handler for attacking our first lady in such a despicable manner,” said President Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.
Specifically calling out Handler’s claims that Melania could “barely speak English,” Cohen then continued, “Don’t be fooled by her accent. Melania is bright and articulate. To be clear, our first lady speaks multiple languages, I believe five. How many languages do you speak, Chelsea?”
According to White House insiders, the First Lady is putting together a team in order to address and manage the attacks on herself and on her family, according to Page Six. Met Ball organizer Stephanie Winston Wolkoff is reportedly being considered to be the chief strategist of such a team.
