Report: NBC wants to be ‘the next Fox News’

After NBC hired on Fox News darlings Greta Van Susteren and Megyn Kelly, media insiders are claiming that the network is trying to be “the next Fox News.”

In particular, one source said that NBC head Andy Lack is trying to push the network toward what Fox News is now, saying, “He believes he’s building MSNBC and NBC into the next Fox. It seems the network wants to take a more conservative tone.”

According to PageSix, Kelly in particular is being hired on with a salary of $12 million and will step in to take over the third or fourth hour of The Today Show.

There are also rumors that MSNBC anchor Joy Reid may be on her way out, with one source saying, “They haven’t renewed her contract. She’s been working without a contract for at least a month.”

However, an MSNBC representative disputed that rumor, insisting that Reid “is working under contract. And the network wants her to stay.”

“The only thing Andy Lack is interested in ‘tilting toward’ is even more good journalism,” added an NBC representative.
