Nordstrom drops Ivanka Trump line due to poor ‘performance’

On Thursday, Nordstrom announced that it would be dropping Ivanka Trump’s fashion line, which was supposed to come out this season. However, they denied that this move was the result of the anti-Trump #GrabYourWallet boycott campaign.

“We’ve said all along we make buying decisions based on performance. We’ve got thousands of brands — more than 2,000 offered on the site alone. Reviewing their merit and making edits is part of the regular rhythm of our business,” the company said in a statement. “Each year we cut about 10 percent and refresh our assortment with about the same amount. In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

Nordstrom reportedly replied to consumers on Twitter who said that they would not be shopping there until Trump-related products were removed. “Based on this brand’s performance, we did decide not to buy it for this season,” the company tweeted.

Of course, while this may seem like success for the #GrabYourWallet campaign, which posted an online list of Trump-supporting businesses, with the intent to give consumers a way to know which companies and stores to boycott, Trump supporters are now firing back.

“So your NOT DOING Ivanka Trump fashion I WONT BE SHOPPING AT NORDSTROM EVER AGAIN! Folding to Alt-Left Nazi Libs has consequences,” one supporter tweeted to the store.

The list of stores on the #GrabYourWallet campaign remains high and includes Macy’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ross, Walmart, DSW, KMart, Sears, Century 21 and others.
