Recently, Kellyanne Conway caused outrage after an image surfaced of her sitting with her feet on the couch in the Oval Office, and now, she is offering both an apology and an explanation.
“I was very busy today and didn’t follow a lot of it, but I know there are a couple of reports at least showing what happened. And what happened is we had the largest gathering of men and women to date in the Oval Office for a picture,” Conway told “Lou Dobbs Tonight” Tuesday.
She went on to explain that she had been sitting on the couch in the manner that she was because she was trying to take a picture.
–Trump’s viral HBCU photo is more than meets the eye–
“I was being asked to take a picture in a crowded room with the press behind us. I was asked to take a certain angle and was doing exactly that. I certainly meant no disrespect, I didn’t mean to have my feet on the couch,” she said.
In fact, the set of photos showed both Conway kneeling on the couch and Conway taking the picture from that position, but social media users were quick to object to her kneeling while wearing heels on the couch.
Ultimately, Conway blamed the journalist who took the pictures for the outcry.
“This came from a journalist that is not happy that Donald Trump is the President,” Conway said. “But I just want people to focus on the great work of the HBCU presidents and how honored we were to have them here.”
