On Wednesday, during an appearance on “Good Morning America,” three women who were formerly Fox News employees detailed the racial discrimination that they suffered while working at the network.
Tichaona Brown, Tabrese Wright and Monica Douglas alleged in a suit filed on Tuesday that Fox News Senior Vice President of Accounting Judith Slater constantly mocked and belittled black employees. In particular, Brown recalled Slater making fun of the Black Lives Matter movement as a “tipping point,” saying that Slater would put her hands in the air whenever she crossed paths with a black employee and that Slater would respond to a ‘good night’ with more harassment.
“Instead of saying good night back, she’s be all like, ‘Hands up, don’t shoot,’” Brown recalled.
Brown said that she had also once been asked to read the words “mother,” “father,” and “ask,” off of Post-It notes, with Slater explaining, “black people continuously mispronounce these words.”
Wright added that she had mentioned to Slater that she was bringing food home to her three kids, to which Slater responded, “All by the same man?”

Douglas said that in addition to being mocked for her race, Slater had made fun of her for having a breast removed because of cancer. She said that Slater called her “cancer girl” or “one boob girl in the normal course of business, in front of my staff.”
Douglas went on to say that she was told Slater could not be fired and that she was “untouchable” in her position.
“That’s really the bigger story here,” the women’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, said on GMA. “There really is a cover-up going on at Fox at the highest levels.”
In response to the suit, Fox News released the following statement: “We take complaints of this nature very seriously and took prompt and effective remedial action in terminating Judy Slater before Ms. Brown, Ms. Wright and Ms. Douglas sued in court and even before Ms. Wright and Ms. Douglas complained through their lawyer. There is no place for conduct like this at Fox News, which is why Ms. Slater was fired.”
