MTV’s Movie Awards are now Movie & TV Awards, allowing scenes, actors, and storylines to compete against each other on both the film screen and television screen.
In addition to that big change, there are also new categories: Show of the Year, Best Host, Best Reality Competition, Tearjerker and Next Generation. The Best Actor and Best Actress categories have also been replaced by non-gendered categories of Best Actor in a Movie and Best Actor in a Show.
For the first-ever MTV Movie & TV Awards, Get Out is by far the break-out star, with six nominations. David Kaluuya, the film’s star, got three nominations, for Best Actor in a Movie, Next Generation and Best Duo with Lil Rel Howery.
