Jordan Edwards’ brothers witnessed devastating police shooting

Jordan Edwards was 15 when he was shot and killed by police when leaving a party, and his brothers saw the shooting and had to watch him die.

“Not only have Jordan’s brothers lost their best friend; they witnessed firsthand his violent, senseless, murder,” a family statement reads, according to the Dallas Morning News. “Their young lives will forever be altered. No one, let alone young children, should witness such horrific, unexplainable, violence.”

His family also described the straight-A student as a “loving child with a humble and sharing spirit.”

“What we desire only second to having our beloved Jordan back, is JUSTICE FOR JORDAN,” the statement reads.

The statement comes after police in Balch Springs, Texas, recently reversed their story as to what led up to the shooting.

Police Chief Jonathan Haber reversed the story that police had told earlier that the car Edwards was in was reversing toward the officer in an “aggressive manner” and said instead that the car was “moving forward as the officers approached.”

What’s more, officers are not supposed to shoot into a moving vehicle in most cases and are encouraged to do the following: “officers threatened by an oncoming vehicle should attempt to move out of its path, if possible, instead of discharging a firearm at it or any of its occupants,” according to the guidelines, which were published by an independent journalist.
