During the MTV Movie Awards, Allison Williams presented the award for “Best Kiss,” which went to Moonlight. But before Williams and her co-star LilRel Howery presented the award, Williams decided it would be a good idea to make racially-tinged jokes.
The Get Out star seemed to notice that Howery was nervous around her, giving her the side-eye and edging away from her. Finally, she asked if he was nervous because of her role as Rose Armitage in Get Out.

When Howery replied that he was, in fact, nervous, Williams asked what it was that she could do in order to win back the trust of black men everywhere. And her suggestions were more than a little tone deaf.
She offered to try to make it illegal to ask to touch a black person’s hair, then offered to switch George Washington’s face on Mount Rushmore for Denzel Washington’s. Finally, the offer Howery agreed to was one to get Beyoncé’s award-winning album, Lemonade, onto Spotify so that it was no longer only on Tidal.
Of course, the internet wasn’t about to let Williams get away with any of it, and Twitter was quick to drag her for her tone-deaf jokes. Check out some of the best take-downs below.
