IHOP waitress arrested for pulling a knife on family who complained about ‘really bad’ service

An IHOP waitress has been arrested after a family claimed that she pulled a steak knife on them after they complained about poor service.

According to the unidentified mother, she and her husband along with their two children, who are both younger than four and who both have special learning and medical needs, had poor service at the IHOP location on Friday morning and asked to speak to the manager. When the manager asked them to leave, they were prepared to do just that, but when another waitress made a comment about her children, the family stopped.

That was when, according to the mother, “all the wait staff engulfed us,” and the waitress who had been serving them pulled out a steak knife. Another employee grabbed the knife away from the waitress, and the family fled.

The waitress was later arrested and charged with menacing and is scheduled for a court appearance later this month.

The owner of the IHOP franchise, Camile Gnolfo, released a statement on Monday, saying, “This was a situation that would be difficult for anyone to imagine and we wish the outcome had been different. Multiple employees reacted to what they viewed as an immediate threat to their personal safety.”
