On Thursday morning, surveillance footage captured the shocking moment that a man was stabbed outside of a Brooklyn bodega.
The man was sitting outside the B&B Mini Market at around 6:50 am when the suspect approached him. The attacker had a knife in hand as he stood over the seated victim, menacing the victim before stabbing the man in the chest.
The injured man clutched his chest and staggered back while his attacker continued to follow after him, knife still in hand as if he was ready to strike again. Finally, the victim collapses in the middle of the street, and the attacker walks away.
According to police, the man who was stabbed later died at Coney Island Hospital, and the man who stabbed him was captured at the scene. The attacker claimed that the man had tried to rob him and that he used the knife in self-defense.
Local resident Angel Reyes said that he saw the video when workers were reviewing it and that he saw that the attacker “stabbed him without saying anything.”
“I was scared and sad when I watched the video,” he said. “It’s heartbreaking.”
Charges against the assailant are pending, and the incident is currently being investigated.
