Jenifer Lewis settles with LA Fitness in lawsuit over ‘con-artist’ lover

Black-ish star Jenifer Lewis has reportedly come to a settlement with LA Fitness.

Earlier this year, Lewis sued the gym club, accusing them of having a hand in the loss of $50,000 that she was conned out of by one of their managers. The actress said that she worked out at the LA Fitness in West Hollywood and met the manager there.

The two started to see each other outside of the gym, and after three months, he asked her for a loan of $50,000 for a film he was producing. She agreed and gave him the money, only to later discover that he was a con man with a record.

She confronted other managers at LA Fitness about the situation and accused them of not running a background check before hiring the manager, though LA Fitness insisted that they run background checks on all employees and that the check on the man involved did not reveal any of what Lewis claimed to be true.

On July 20, confidential legal documents were filed as Lewis and LA Fitness apparently reached a settlement, in which LA Fitness did not admit any guilt, according to theJasmineBrand.com.

LA Fitness said that they had offered the settlement in an attempt to end the matter. The company is now demanding that Lewis drop her charges, which she allegedly agreed to do five days after receiving the payment as part of the agreement. They say that she is dragging it out as a publicity stunt.
