Trump removes Anthony Scaramucci as communications director

On Monday, President Donald Trump reportedly removed Anthony Scaramucci from his position as White House communications director.

Scaramucci had a tumultuous ten days in the position, making headlines with claims that he was going to find leakers and fire them as well as an expletive-laced tirade against Reince Priebus. Scaramucci’s appointment to the position shook up the White House staff and resulted in the resignations of both press secretary Sean Spicer and chief of staff Priebus, leading John Kelly, a former general, to step into the role of chief of staff.

It was Kelly, according to the New York Times, who ultimately put a stop to Scaramucci’s antics.

The Times reported that Kelly held a meeting at the White House on Monday morning making it clear that he was in charge, establishing a chain of command with him fielding people who would like to have the ear of the president.

This was in direct contradiction to Scaramucci’s claims that he reported directly to the president and no one else, and the Times reported that Scaramucci was thus removed from his position, after only a handful of days, at Kelly’s request.

It is not clear, however, whether Scaramucci will continue to work at the White House in any other capacity.
