The spinoff of Kenya Barris‘ Black-ish now has an official name: Grown-ish.
The spinoff, which stars Yara Shahidi as Zoey, had been moving forward under the working title College-ish, as it follows Zoey as she moves out and explores the world on her own when she goes to college. But the new title seems to fit the theme incredibly well too.

“It’s now called Grown-ish,” Barris said. “We start the writers room Monday. Me and Yara have been in casting, looking for the best, brightest and newest faces. We have some people that we’re really excited about. She is amazing, she’s been my partner on this and it’s great.”
In addition to Shahidi, other stars from Black-ish set to appear concurrently with both the original show and the spinoff are Deon Cole, Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross.
Although Trevor Jackson and Mallory Sparks were Zoey’s friends in the backdoor pilot, with Chris Parnell and Matt Walsh as college administrators, there has been no official confirmation that any of them will be returning to the show, though it’s likely at least Sparks and Jackson will be there.
