Katie Couric producers ‘doused with human urine and mud’ during Charlottesville protest

According to Katie Couric, when she and producers were covering the violent white supremacist rally last weekend in Charlottesville, they were doused in a concoction of urine and mud. She wrote about the experience for National Geographic.

“Observing the rising battle of protest chants, two of my producers were standing on an elevated edge of the park when suddenly they were doused with a concoction of human urine and mud,”

“It was thrown into the air over the crowd from what they think was a water bottle.”

The op-ed titled “Being in Charlottesville broke my heart. It also filled me with hope.” The piece explores what Couric was feeling and thinking following the three days she was in Charlottesville filming a documentary “examining the pivotal social, demographic, and cultural changes that are currently tearing us apart.”

Couric said she also saw demonstrators throwing feces at each other.
