Nicki Minaj and Tasha Cobbs Leonard have just released a new gospel collaboration together called “I’m Getting Ready.”
This collaboration has been hinted at for some time now, ever since Minaj suggested earlier in the year that she loved Cobbs and would love to work with her. She has been sending the gospel songstress love and praise on Instagram since that too, including a post congratulating her on her March wedding with a “double portion blessing.”

Then, in July, Cobbs announced that her new album, Heart. Passion. Pursuit., would feature Minaj on the “I’m Getting Ready” track. Almost immediately, Cobbs faced backlash from the Christian community, as many felt that it was inappropriate for her to feature Minaj because of Minaj’s penchant for racy lyrics.
But Cobbs clapped back, quoting from the Bible and telling her followers to be more inclusive.
“Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do,” she wrote, adding, “And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with — even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.”
