Asian family threatened after displaying Black Lives Matter sign

Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

An Asian-American family in San Francisco has had a Black Lives Matter sign in their window since 2015, but recently, that sign sparked a hate crime after the family received two threatening letters.

The first letter simply read: “BLUE LIVES MATTER! Get rid of your sign, or WE will!”

The first letter was in July, and the family chose to ignore it. A month later they received a second letter that said, “It’s time to replace your BLM sign. How about CHINK LIVES MATTER,” using a derogatory term for Chinese American.

However, the family has continued to refuse to take down the sign and is even trying to get other signs of solidarity against hatred to be put up throughout the neighborhood.
