Lyft and Budweiser give free rides to prevent drunk driving

Lyft and Budweiser are teaming up for a campaign called “Give a Damn. Don’t Drive Drunk” that is meant to reduce drunk driving.

The program provides up to 150,000 total round-trip rides over weekends and holidays so that people have designated drivers to get home safely after they’ve been drinking. These rides will be available in New York, Colorado, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Texas, Georgia, and Washington, D.C.

“We are thrilled to work with Budweiser, a brand that shares our commitment to helping people drink responsibly and get home safe,” said Melissa Waters, vice president of marketing for Lyft. “This partnership encourages passengers to make the right choice about how they get home and celebrates the drivers who make it possible.”

The promotion can be redeemed on Budweiser’s Facebook or Instagram pages, where, if you are over 21, you can redeem a unique ride code every Thursday at 2 p.m. ET to claim a $20 ride credit (which will pay for two $10 one-way rides) on the Lyft app. The rides can be redeemed anytime between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

Budwesier has also issued a video for the promotion, called “Like a Hero,” which you can watch below.
