On Monday, Cardi B made history as the first female rapper to net the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list without any guest appearances since Lauryn Hill did it almost two decades ago.
Previously, the closest person to come to breaking that record was Nicki Minaj, who had gotten all the way up to No. 2 with “Anaconda,” but Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” kept right on shooting to the top.
Minaj has since taken to Twitter to congratulate Cardi B on the achievement.
“Congratulations to a fellow NEW YAWKA on a RECORD BREAKING achievement,” wrote Minaj. “Bardi, this is the only thing that matters!!! Enjoy it.”
On Monday evening, Cardi B responded, tweeting out her thanks and saying, “This means sooo much coming from you!”
