Pitbull sends private jet to Puerto Rico to fly cancer patients to get treatment

Rapper Pitbull, real name Armando Christian Perez, sent his private jet to the hurricane-battered island of Puerto Rico so that he could fly cancer patients to the mainland of the United States for their chemo treatments.

Puerto Rico congresswoman Jenniffer Gonzalez recognized the move with a message on Twitter, writing, “Thank you @pitbull for lending your private plane to move cancer patients from PR to USA so that they can get chemo.”

In response, Pitbull said, “Thanks God we’re blessed to help. Just doing my part,” in speaking to the New York Daily News on Tuesday.

As Puerto Rico struggles to recover from the devastation most recently brought down on them by Hurricane Maria, Pitbull and others have stepped up to help, including Jennifer Lopez, who recently announced that she would be donating $1 million to the island.

“What’s foremost in my mind and many others, is trying to figure out the best way to help,” Lopez said in a statement this week. “Our island of Puerto Rico has been hit by two of the most devastating hurricanes we’ve ever seen: Irma and Maria. Today, Puerto Rico needs our help. I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rossello.”
