Trump claps back at Puerto Rico: ‘They want everything done for them’
President Donald Trump slammed leaders in Puerto Rico, tweeting, “they want everything done for them when it should be a community effort.”
Trump has been criticized for his response to the damage caused in the US territories by Hurricane Maria. He has defended himself, tweeting that the “fake news” has not been treating him justly and were doing everything they could to “get Trump.”
He even went so far as to blame his treatment on the Democrats. Writing, “The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.”

Puerto Rico is devastated. Phone system, electric grid many roads, gone. FEMA and First Responders are amazing. Governor said "great job!"

The military and first responders, despite no electric, roads, phones etc., have done an amazing job. Puerto Rico was totally destroyed.

Fake News CNN and NBC are going out of their way to disparage our great First Responders as a way to "get Trump." Not fair to FR or effort!

The Fake News Networks are working overtime in Puerto Rico doing their best to take the spirit away from our soldiers and first R's. Shame!

Main thing I've heard from the Mayor of San Juan are pleas for food, water, fuel, and medical supplies bc Americans are dying https://t.co/xAxdL7f0ng

To be clear, this is the mayor of San Juan who he insulted. She's using a bullhorn to find people. pic.twitter.com/OsbcNKANLd

Mayor of San Juan is a woman and a person of color who dared to criticize Trump. His fury says it all.
