Donald Trump has dropped almost 100 spots on Forbes’ list of the richest people in the United States.
The list, which details the wealth of the richest 400 Americans, showed that Trump’s fortune decreased by by $600 million to $3.1 billion, moving him down to the #248 spot from the #156 spot last year.
According to the magazine, the drop in wealth can be attributed to “a tough New York real estate market, particularly for retail locations; a costly lawsuit and an expensive presidential campaign.” The lawsuit in question is the suit concerning Trump University, for which Trump settled for $25 million over claims that the seminars defrauded students who signed up for the university.
Still, Trump’s wealth estimation on Forbes’ list was higher than for Bloomberg’s worldwide billionaires list, which estimated his worth at $2.86 billion. That is not enough to put him on the list of the top 500 wealthiest people in the world.
