When the First Family jetted off to Asia they probably expected a warm welcome but that’s not what Ivanka experienced when she shared her views on sexual harassment and women’s empowerment in Tokyo. Instead, she was greeted with a half-empty venue.
President Donald Trump’s daughter is well known in Japan due to her fashion sales and her modeling. Not surprisingly she didn’t mention her father by name during her short speech at the World Assembly for Women. Instead, she focused on her work in her father’s administration promoting women’s economic role.
Officials have said her speech was the most registered even during the three-day assembly but tight security meant that some people couldn’t get into the venue before the doors closed.
That said, the Guardian got to the hall 10 minutes before the speeches began and there were no long lines of people who wanted in to hear Trump and Abe speak.

This is bad news for Ivanka Trump as it is on the heels of another embarrassing experience at the W20 summit in Berlin. There, as she was on a panel with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, she was faced with hisses and boos when she said her father was a “tremendous champion of supporting families.”
On Friday, she brought up the numerous sexual harassment and assault claims that have been coming to the forefront, saying, “All too often our workplace culture fails to treat women with appropriate respect.
“This takes many forms, including harassment, which can never be tolerated.”
This brings to mind some of Donald Trump’s own words and actions. For example, the Access Hollywood tape in which he said, among other things, “When you’re a star, they let you do it. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”
Also, how he bragged about walking in on naked teenagers as they were changing for a pageant because they were beautiful.
