“Girls” star Lena Dunham reportedly warned Hillary Clinton about Harvey Weinstein and urged her not to use Weinstein for fundraisers and other campaign events.
According to a New York Times report out on Tuesday, Dunham told the paper that she’d heard several troubling stories from other women and warned Clinton campaign deputy communications manager Kristina Schake in March 2016.
“I just want you to let you know that Harvey’s a rapist and this is going to come out at some point,” Dunham said she told Schake. “I think it’s a really bad idea for him to host fund-raisers and be involved because it’s an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault.”

Dunham also claimed that she spoke to Clinton spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod about Weinstein. However, Schake and Elrod “denied” that she “mentioned rape” when speaking to them about Weinstein.
Dunham claimed that she raised the concerns because she had “an incredible allegiance to Hillary” and wanted to make sure that Clinton was not tied to someone she knew to have a problem with sexual assault.
These claims are especially damning considering the fact that Clinton came under fire for taking five days to break her silence about the allegations being leveled against Weinstein, who had donated thousands to her campaign.
