Marsai Martin may be just 13 years old, but she’s already making an undeniable mark on the entertainment world.

The award-winning Black-ish star, who fans love as Diane on the hit series, is set to not only star in but to executive produce an upcoming comedy from Universal called Little, according to a report first published by The Hollywood Reporter.

Martin came up with the original concept for Little, which follows the story of a woman who is overwhelmed by the pressures of adulthood and gets the chance to live a much simpler life as her younger self.

So, not only is Marsai Martin going to stretch her wings in acting and producing but also in bringing new ideas to the stage. We love this idea, especially because Hollywood needs more Black Girl Magic.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the script was originally penned by Girls Trip screenwriter Tracy Oliver. But Drumline’s Tina Gordon Chism, who will direct the project, wrote the most recent version.

Girls Trip producers Will Packer and James Lopez are signed to produce along with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris. And Girls Trip’s Regina Hall and Josh Martin are also set to executive produce as well.

Great things ahead

Tracee Ellis Ross, who plays Marsai Martin’s mother on Black-ish took to Twitter to celebrate her TV daughter’s success with a simple comment on a link to news of the movie deal: “Yaaaasssss.”

We love it when TV families come together to support each other like this. It looks like Martin had a great support system behind her as she expands her wings to try new things.

At just 13 years old, Marsai Martin is clearly going to keep on rocking the world as she gets older.
