Members of a Georgia church were shocked when their van was stolen.
When church members arrived to worship on Sunday at the Lighthouse Community Church, there was only broken glass where the van used to be. The van, which could seat 15 people, was often used to take kids to church events and played a big role in community outreach.
Local news channel WSBTV reported on the missing van, and it caught the attention of none other than Tyler Perry.
Cindy Smith, an administrator at the church, told the station she was amazed when Perry called her to inform her that he was giving the church a new van. On Friday, some of her church members will head to a local dealership to pick it up.
“Just his generosity, his willingness to help us here … he didn’t have to do this, but he took the time to call us and to offer this to us and we’re completely in awe and overwhelmed and excited and we know that the Lord touched his heart to do this,” she said.
We love seeing celebrities use their power and influence to better the lives of people in the community.
–Woman claims she’s married to Tyler Perry, says he’s raising her son–
A family man
Perry has recently found his name in the news for another reason, and that’s a woman claiming on “Dr. Phil” that she’s married to Perry. She also claimed that he’s raising her kid.
That episode will air next month.
As for Perry himself, he is loving being a father to Aman and told Good Morning America last year that his son was his “healer.”
“He is my healer, because I look at myself in his eyes,” Perry told Robin Roberts. “Everything that I’m finding about growing up and the things that went wrong in my life, I get the opportunity to do them right for him. So he is my healer.”
And shortly after Aman was born in November 2014, he took to social media to celebrate the joys of family and fatherhood.
“This is the first Christmas in the past five years that I’ve been able to find joy,” Perry wrote on Facebook. “You see, my mother died December the 8th five years ago, and no amount of Christmas lights could replace the light that she was to me. But this year, in spite of myself, God gave me another light to shine in my heart right beside hers. God thank you!
