Democrat Conor Lamb Makes a Dent in Pennsylvania’s Trump Territory

In the 2016 presidential election, Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District voted for Trump by 20 percentage points, but today Democrats are making strides there. Democrat Conor Lamb has a tentative victory in the district as he seeks a seat in the House of Representatives. Lamb has a very slight lead over Republican Rick Saccone. CNN is not projecting a winner yet. Absentee and provisional ballots have not been fully counted yet. Win or lose, the fact that a Republican stronghold has apparently flipped is notable to political observers looking for insight into the upcoming midterm elections.
