Kenya Moore has a lot to smile about, even if her haters are constantly coming for her.
The 47-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta star is expecting her first child with husband, Marc Daly, and she couldn’t be happier about her impending bundle of joy.
When Kenya announced that she was “expecting a boy or girl” on the first part of this season’s RHOA reunion last week, fans were left wondering if that meant she was pregnant or if she had enlisted the help of a surrogate or was adopting.
“I only answered that way because I was in shock. I didn’t expect to be asked the question and I was just caught off guard. It’s as simple as that,” she says in an exclusive interview with TheGrio.
“I can’t wait to experience everything. I am just trying to contain myself and trying not to go crazy and not worry. Every little thing makes you wonder, ‘what’s that?’”
Moore insists she wasn’t offended by people doubting she was pregnant—which she definitely is.
“It doesn’t offend me at all. I think people should have a family any way they can if that’s what they desire. I love the fact that in 2018, there are other ways you can have families whether its with a surrogate or adoption or being able to freeze your eggs and thaw them. Technology is crazy,” she says.
“At 47, people should just be so happy for me. It’s the same as getting married at 46 as a Black woman, knowing that 44% of us never ever get married. I got to be one of the lucky ones and you can too if it’s something your heart really desires, you should never give up hope.”
She also weighed in on Tristan Thompson’s cheating scandal that erupted one day before Khloe Kardashian gave birth to their daughter.
“Anything can happen in any relationship whether you’re dating or in a marriage with someone. I feel like that is a crappy thing to see and have to experience. He took her joy away. I just got chills all over because I cannot imagine someone taking my joy away from having my first child. Especially someone I’m in love with and having a baby with. To find that out in the eleventh hour, I feel badly for her. I would never want to experience something like that and I feel awful for her.”
Kenya Moore also offered her take on rumors that Sheree Whitfield has been fired from the series, again.
“They always have the option of bringing you back every year, nobody’s contract is guaranteed for the following season. I can’t confirm or deny [if Sheree has been fired] but if it is true, I think it comes down to the clues that are there in the reunion.”
According to Moore, there’s not much to work with when it comes to Sheree’s storyline.
“You have no friends. You have no loyalty to anyone. The one person you formed an alliance with is Kim and clearly, no one wants to shoot with Kim next season. The storyline is the same storyline she has had for three years. Working on her house and after dealing with Bob [Whitfield] now you’re on to another relationship with someone you found in a jail that we will never see for four more years,” she says.
“What do you want the producers to do with that? Obviously, that’s very difficult as a business person, I don’t see the value in that. It’s about being able to tell a story. I guess if she was on next season we would watch her working on the upper level of her house or the outside while she’s still on the phone with Tyrone…and designing joggers that will be out in Spring/Summer/Fall of Spring 2018 or 2022.”
