From Jordan Peele’s mind’s eye, things seem a little wonky in this world.
The writer/director has taken us on a mental escapade into the sunken place with his hit movie Get Out, that really got under our skin and now YouTube has ordered Peele’s Weird City, a sci-fi comedy of a different sort.

“Now, with YouTube we present a series of comedy driven twisted-ass science fiction stories that take place in a world close to ours but just a little bit off,” said Peele about the upcoming series.
Peele has teamed with his old friend Charlie Sanders, who has helped him write for the hilarious Key & Peele show.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Weird City is set in the not-too-distant future metropolis of Weird. The comedy series will focus on eclectic tales that can only be told through the sci-fi/comedy mash-up. Weird City will debut in 2019 on YouTube Premium with six initial episodes.
Collaborating with Old Friends
Peele shared his delight about sharing the comedy seat once again with Sanders.
“Writer/creator Charlie Sanders and I collaborated on some Key & Peele sketches that took on everything from the ‘Black Republicans’ to ‘Continental Breakfasts’ to ‘Family Matters,’” Peele said Thursday in a statement.
YouTube has recently rebranded and has a subscription service for quality content. The service costs $13 per month which includes music and video streaming sans the ads. Viewers also have access to a slate of original programs like Cobra Kai and Step Up: High Water, according to reports.

“We are thrilled to be in business with Jordan, Charlie and Jose, who have brilliantly created a highly entertaining satire that will be a timely send up of modern society,” said YouTube content chief Susanne Daniels.
“We are excited to partner with Sonar Entertainment and all of the innovative storytellers behind Weird City to push boundaries and redefine what a comedy series can be.”
Peele made history at the 90th Annual Academy Awards winning the award for Best Original Screenplay for his film Get Out and he said he’s seriously considering a sequel.
