Michelle Williams has taken some time out and checked herself into a mental health facility for depression.

The Former Destiny’s Child member tweeted out a message about her personal battle with depression after being checked into a facility in the Los Angeles area.

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” she tweeted to fans Tuesday evening.

Williams has always been open about her mental health struggles and her past battles with depression, and on an appearance on The Talk last year, she admitted that her depression eventually turned suicidal thoughts after Destiny’s Child disbanded.

Williams bravely spoke out about the need for a more open discussion of mental illness, saying, “I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that I’ve been suffering from depression.”

She then spoke to her own experience suffering from depression, saying that when she told her manager, Mathew Knowles, she was depressed, he waved her off, pointing out the multimillion dollar deal Destiny’s Child had just signed and saying, “What do you have to be depressed about?”

“So I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I’m just tired,’” Williams recalled.

“I think he wanted me to be grateful, which I was, but I was still sad,” she added.

Williams recently got engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson and they secured a reality show about their upcoming nuptials. No word if the show will continue.
