Entrepreneur and reality star Yandy Smith is well known for her role on VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop New York. Although the Mona Scott franchise has had it’s share of negativity, Smith says it’s all a part of the journey.

Reality television has a double edged sword for Smith. It’s been both a form of therapeutic growth and a chance for her to witness the change that she wants to see manifested within her family and herself.

“It’s really been something that has it’s good and it’s bad but I definitely learned a lot,” said Smith.

The growth is evident and was a vital part of the mompreneur goal as a way to show a different side to the reality series.

“It was super duper important to show the other side of reality tv for me,” she explains. “Not everybody is on reality television because they’re attached to a man; not everyone is on reality television because they have this super fired personality that’s just great entertainment. Some of us worked hard for our spot to be there and it was important for me to be that example.
