On Monday Morning, the Today Show helped give a touching moment as they reunited a father stationed in Baghdad with his family for Veteran’s Day.

U.S. Army Sgt. Dennis Glass, who had not seen his family in nearly a year, flew into New York City to surprise his wife Shaunie – who is also an Army veteran – and their three daughters. Glass is a public affairs journalist for the 361st Press Camp Headquarters which has been stationed in Iraq with the Special Operations Joint Task Force.

The Today show anchors Hoda Kotb, Craig Melvin, and Savannah Guthrie, began the segment by saying that they were speaking with Glass via satellite as he stood by a gray background.

“Hello, I wish I could be there,” Sgt. Glass says to his family. As he finishes the sentence, Al Roker pops in from offscreen and says, “Oh sure you could! Come on!” before leading him to his waiting family.

Glass’ wife covers her mouth in shock as he approaches and then puts their daughter down on the ground so she can give him a bear hug. His daughters quickly follow suit. Glass’ wife can be heard crying tears of joy over the microphone.

“Did we get you?”, Kotb asks.

“Yes, you got me,” Shaunie says while crying. “I’m so happy to see him.”

Glass said he’ll be home for a while and plans to spend relaxing and spending time with his family.
