NBA star LeBron James reportedly working on a new film about his inspiring rise to fame
LeBron James has proven that he’s no ordinary athlete. From his modest years as a youth growing up in Akron, Ohio with a teenage mom and no real presence of a dad, to rising to become a championship-winning basketball player, media figure and business man—his life story is full of the unexpected.
Now, Chris Robinson will reportedly direct an untitled film about King James’ humble beginnings and the real-life story of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, Deadline reports. Robinson has directed Star for Fox and the upcoming Netflix film Beats.
The story will be based on James’ book, Shooting Stars,that he wrote along with Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger. The story will be produced by James and Maverick Carter for their SpringHill Entertainment company. Along with Terence and Rachel Winter, producing for Tangerine Pictures and Cold Front Productions.

The script was penned by Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier wrote the script.
James is a prolific figure in the entertainment and sports realm. He has been a big brother of sorts to young Blacks kids who look up and want to be just like ‘Bron.
Earlier this year, James left the Cleveland Cavaliers and took his talents over to the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring a mega four-year, $154 million deal.
Last month, his long-awaited docs-series Shut Up and Dribble will premiere on Showtime as a three-part docu-series described as “an inside look at the changing role of athletes in our fraught cultural and political environment, through the lens of the NBA” according to Deadline.
The title is especially appropriate considering the dustup the phrase caused when Fox News host, Laura Ingraham, made insulting statements about King James and his activism a few months back.

“Look, there might be a cautionary lesson in LeBron for kids,” Ingraham said on her show. “This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school a year early to join the NBA. And it’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid a hundred-million dollars a year to bounce a ball.”
James responded with his own hashtag — #wewillnotshutupanddribble — and asserted, “I am more than an athlete.”
James is deserving of a life story feature, especially considering he’s done more than prove that fact on numerous occasions. Earlier this year, h opened a school in Akron Ohio that puts this country’s education system to shame.
The I Promise School is the culmination of nearly a decade of work by the foundation, with its focus on educating children from challenging backgrounds who need and desire additional educational support. The school will begin with two grades – third and fourth – with plans to expand in the coming years.
The I Promise School has a longer school day and school year, more than 40 staff members have been recruited to accelerate the development of children who qualify for the program based on performance and socioeconomic factors.
