‘Watchmen’ nabs 26 Emmy nominations, plus full list of nominees

The nominees for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards were announced Tuesday morning and HBO’s Watchmen leads the pack with 26 nominations.

Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, and Tatiana Maslany announced the long list of contenders alongside Television Academy chairman and CEO Frank Scherma.

Netflix received an impressive 160 nominations, shattering HBO’s previous record of 137.

A few of our faves nabbed well-deserved nominations his year, including Little Fires Everywhere and Watchmen going head to head for Best Limited Series. Insecure nabbed a nod for best comedy and tons of talented actors were recognized for their work.

Kerry Washington, Regina King, and Octavia Spencer will compete for Best Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie and Anthony Anderson and Don Cheadle will battle for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Issa Rae and Tracee Ellis Ross are nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, while Sterling K. Brown and Billy Porter each earned spots in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category.

The 72nd Emmy Awards will be hosted and executive produced by Jimmy Kimmel and the event will air on September 20 on ABC, although it’s unclear what format will be settled on.
