Cosby, of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, is the first lady of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church in Salt Lake City, Utah. She shocked fans when she announced she’d married her step-grandfather, Robert Cosby Sr. over 20 years ago.
She says it was the wish of her grandmother for her to marry her second husband in order to keep the family’s holdings, which includes churches, homes, and restaurants, per Bravo. When the couple wed Mary was 22 and her husband was 42, according to the U.S.-Sun.
But on the latest episode of the series, Cosby opens up and says she did not have sex with her step-grandfather on her wedding night or even in the days following. In a clip posted by The Jasmine Brand, Cosby says “Don’t think it wasn’t weird, because it was.”
She says trust is what made her go through with the idea. “I did it because I trusted my grandmother and I’m so glad I did it.”
She goes on to disclose she had a built-in excuse to avoid sex for a while.

“Thank goodness I was on my period. And the period lasted about two weeks, ‘he was like are you still on?’ and I was like ‘yeah I’m still on.’” She adds, “it got awkward so I stretched it out to the 28th day.”
She says she did eventually move on from those feelings.
“I had to get past that and I had to pray myself. I started to seek higher help myself,” she said as she looks up to the ceiling. “And it worked out so good, like it couldn’t have been better.”
The couple now have a teenage son together.
Nevertheless, social media has had their say. Fans on Twitter have been very vocal on the unusual pairing.
One user said, “Mary no matter how you explain it, marrying you’re step-grandfather is bizarre, and that’s me putting it nicely #RHOSLC.”
Another added, “Not to be dramatic but the fact that Mary married her step-grandfather and we get to watch this mess on tv is single handedly saving 2020 from being a waste of time #RHOSLC.”
