‘Abbott Elementary’ garners most Critics Choice Awards nominations
The popular sitcom earned six nods in the TV category, including Best Comedy Series.
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has officially announced television nominees for the “28th Annual Critics Awards” and Quinta Brunson’s hit sitcom, “Abbott Elementary,” has garnered the most nods.
The series, which has taken the comedy world by storm since its debut, leads with six nominations, including one of the most coveted prizes of the night, Best Comedy Series. It also nabbed nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series (Brunson), Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Chris Perfetti and Tyler James Williams) and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph).
Other nominees revealed on Dec 6. include comedy series like “The Bear” and “Reservation Dogs” as well as dramas like “Euphoria” and “House of the Dragon.”
“Euphoria” received a nomination for Best Drama Series and series lead Zendaya was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series. Ismael Cruz Córdova of Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, while Audra McDonald earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “The Good Fight.”
CCA TV Branch Co-President Ed Martin said in a statement, “As we embark on holding the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards, we are amazed by the wealth of remarkable television programs that were considered to become this year’s nominees. Clearly, the industry has rebounded in a big way. We look forward to honoring the year’s finest shows and performances at the upcoming awards ceremony.”
The “28th Annual Critics Choice Awards” is a ceremony dedicated to honoring “the finest in cinematic and television achievement.” The film nominations are scheduled to be announced at Noon ET on Dec. 14.
The ceremony will air live at 7 p.m. ET (delayed in PT) on Jan. 15, 2023 on The CW. See the full nominees list below:
