WASHINGTON (AP) — House Republicans are set to resume their bid to repeal the health care reform law, a week later than planned because of the shootings in Arizona.
Debate begins today on a bill which aims to overturn the signature initiative of the Obama administration.
Republicans want to get the bill approved this week — ahead of next week’s state of the union speech. They’ve scheduled the vote tomorrow and a handful of Democrats are expected to vote with the GOP.
The measure will be dead on arrival once it hits the Senate and Republicans this week also plan to approve a measure requiring that a trio of House committees come up with replacement healthcare legislation.
A recent AP-GfK poll shows only one in four Americans wants an outright repeal.
