America witnessed a historical moment when Barack Obama was elected as the first African-American president of the United States. Today, we closely follow his every political move, while we marvel at the first lady’s keen fashion sense and her Let’s Move campaign that target childhood obesity.
Now the Obamas will be featured in a more comedic situation, as NBC is developing a new sitcom reportedly inspired by the Obama family. Former speechwriter Josh Gad created the show with a script being written by Jon Lovett, who is also a former speechwriter to Obama.
20th Century Fox says that the sitcom, titled 1600 Penn, will revolve around “a dysfunctional family that just happens to live at the most famous address in America.”
NBC is currently in a “put pilot commitment” in which the network will be forced to pay penalties if the show does not debut.
