Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann thinks President Barack Obama is treating America like a “banana republic.”
That’s the charge the Minnesota congressman leveled during an appearance on “Meet the Press.”
Bachmann said “people are frustrated” with the level of government spending, saying “they want us to act like a first world nation, not like what President Barack Obama is doing. He’s actiling liek were’s a banana republic. We’ve got to stop spending money we don’t have.”
Pressed by host David Gregory on her assertion that the U.S. is becoming just like Greece and Italy, which are in the midst of financial meltdowns and seeking bailouts from Europe, Bachman doubled down:
“What I’m doing is saying that the decisions that Barack Obama [are] making is acting like a banana republic.” she said.
Bachmann is no stranger to caustic rhetoric.
