Creator of 'Don't Re-Nig in 2012' bumper sticker says: 'I am not racist'

Paula Smith, the sole creator and distributor of a racially insensitive anti-Obama bumper sticker which reads ‘Don’t re-Nig in 2012,’ recently defended herself in an interview with Forbes magazine.

When asked about her product’s use of a racial epithet, Smith says “The n-word does not mean black.” According to Paula Smith the n-word means a “low down, sorry, low down person.” She says that she created the anti-Obama sticker because she does not like the president and that the message of it has nothing to do with his nationality

“And besides Obama is not even black. He’s got a mixture of race. It’s his choice of what his nationality is. I’m a mixed breed. I call myself a Heinz 57,” she says.

Smith says that the $3 bumper sticker has been up on her site since Obama was elected president in 2008. Her website, stickatude.com, had been on the verge of closing down due to lack of sales. It wasn’t until stumpystickers.com took her idea, without giving her any credit, that the sticker went viral.

According to Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary the n-word means: “a member of any dark skinned race; taken to be offensive.” Dictionary.com rated the word as “the most offensive word in the English language.”

Smith is from Hinesville, Georgia and claims that she is not racist, and spends plenty of quality time with African-Americans on a daily basis. She says that all she wants is “someone that will help the United States and not give in to other countries all the time. And stop giving the immigrants the benefits that most Americans inside their own states can’t even get because they are giving it to others that don’t even live here as Americans.”
