Earlier this month Beyoncé made an appearance at the United Nations in New York City, where she filmed a live video for her stirring ballad “I Was Here,” from her latest album 4. The footage from her performance debuted Sunday in honor of World Humanitarian Day.
For her performance, Beyoncé rocked a floor-length white gown designed by Marc Bouwer. Throughout the song, written by Diane Warren, images of children and adults from all over the world lending a hand to people in need played on a jumbo-sized screen behind her.
“We all see the headlines, and we think, ‘What can I really do to help?,'” Beyoncé said in a statement.
“World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care.”
