During last nights’ third and final presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, conservative media personality Ann Coulter took to Twitter to express her assessment of how the two candidates were performing, and proceeded to call the president a “retard.”
Coulter’s tweet, which read, “I highly approve of Romney’s decision to be kind and gentle to the retard,” was met with some heavy criticism, as people on Twitter called it “offensive and disrespectful” and asked her, “Are you out of your f**king mind?” according to the Huffington Post.
The conservative commentator is no stranger to controversial and discourteous statements towards the president, especially since the beginning of the presidential debates in October.
While speaking with Fox News’s Fox and Friends after the first debate, Coulter had said, “You could see, at the end of that debate, he knew — anniversary or not — Michelle wanted to go home with Mitt.”
Last night’s debate seemed to have favored Obama, as pundits and polls alike said that the president won the debate in a performance that had Romney agreeing with a majority of the president’s foreign policy positions.
