In a satirical Mitt Romney endorsement ad, filmmaker Joss Whedon campaigns for the success of the GOP presidential candidate because of his “vision and determination to cut through business-as-usual politics and finally put this country back on the path to the zombie apocalypse.”
This may not be the type of endorsement that the Romney camp had in mind.
Whedon, an avid supporter of Barack Obama, says: “Like a lot of liberal Americans, I was excited when Barack Obama took office four years ago. But it’s a very different world now, and Mitt Romney is a very different candidate.”
What first appears to be an endorsement of Mitt Romney makes comedic turn.
According to The Avengers director, “Romney is ready to make the deep rollbacks in healthcare, education, social services and reproductive rights that will guarantee poverty, unemployment, overpopulation disease, rioting. All crucial elements in creating a nightmare zombie wasteland.”
Whedon argues that it is not just his policies that make “Zomney” so right for the role of president, but also “his commitment to ungoverned corporate privilege that will nose dive [the] economy into insolvency and chaos.”
“You need to ask yourself, ‘Am I ready? Am I ready for the purity and courage of Mitt Romney’s apocalyptic vision?’ Mitt’s ready. He’s not afraid of facing a ravening grasping horde of subhumans. Because that’s how he sees poor people already.”
Whedon’s mock political ad jokes that during this apocalypse, the rich will not stand a chance against the physically capable. “The 1 percent will no longer be the very rich. It’ll be the very fast.”
Whedon has donated over $35,000 to the Obama re-election campaign.
