WASHINGTON (AP) — Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the Republican Party must adapt to rapidly changing demographics, saying it sent “mixed messages” on immigration and women’s issues during this year’s election campaign.
Rice tells “CBS This Morning” the changing face of America “really necessitates” new thinking.
Rice says the Republicans came close to matching the Democrats in the popular vote, but she acknowledges that “clearly we are losing important segments” of the electorate.
Rice says she wouldn’t be interested in succeeding Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of state, even if asked to do so by President Barack Obama.
