The Trayvon Martin case has sparked a national conversation on race, led thousands of Americans to the streets in protest and inspired the president to speak personally about its impact.
And one Republican Congressman is sick of it.
“We spent more time on Trayvon Martin than we did on foreign policy which could jeopardize other lives,” said Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) in an interview with Newsmax. “It’s a tragedy in this nation that we somehow lose focus on things and drop the ball. This is a really serious case and we see the administration, consulate and the Democrats in joining together in stopping the investigation.”
The handling of the terrorist attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi has been a political talking point for the right for months.
The U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were killed in the assault on the U.S. mission in Benghazi on September 11, 2012.
The president has dismissed conspiracy theories about White House missteps in the lead-up to the attack.
“There is no there there,” said Obama this Spring.
It should be noted that Stockman invited the infamously anti-Trayvon Martin musician Ted Nugent to attend this year’s State of the Union address.
