In the wake of Azealia Banks’ candid interview with Hot 97, she and Iggy Azalea are once again entrenched in a war of words on Twitter.
In a recent twitter rant, the “Fancy” rapper mocks Banks for crying on the radio and calls her both “poisonous” and a “bigot” for having an issue with her appropriating black culture.
Banks held her own in the debate, calling Azalea a modern day minstrel. But it appears she also has an ally in hacker group Anonymous, who has now threatened to expose the Australian born rapper if she doesn’t apologize to Banks and Mike Brown and Eric Garner protesters.
They say that if Iggy Azalea doesn’t humble herself in regards to her white privilege, pictures of her alleged sextape will be leaked on the web.
Iggy Azalea has spent the past week trading words with fellow female rapper Azealia Banks, and has spent the past year being criticized for cultural misappropriation by being a white Australian woman in hip-hop. Now the “Fancy” star is facing a new opponent: the hacking group Anonymous, who spent Friday night (Dec. 19) slamming Azalea and eventually threatening to release snapshots from an X-rated tape starring the rapper — and possibly other things the rapper would want to keep secret — unless she apologizes in the next 48 hours.
“You are guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner’s death. @IGGYAZALEA,” the faceless group posted on Friday night. Anonymous is asking Azalea to “release a statement apologizing to @AzealiaBanks and the protesters in NYC” within 48 hours, or else proof of her X-rated tape will be released.
Anonymous has an ethical code they operate by and have made it clear they are only threatening to release screenshots and not the video itself. Their page has been suspended since the announcement was made, but below is the text from their verbal warning to Azalea.
