Jill Scott and Eve have been making the rounds to promote their new Lifetime movie With This Ring, and on Friday, they were guests of Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning with host Sway Calloway. After catching up and exchanging pleasantries with Sway, the subject turned to cultural appropriation in the music industry.

These days, it seems impossible to breach that topic without discussing controversial Australian-born rapper Iggy Azalea, who is currently nominated for four Grammys.

Eve clearly isn’t a fan but did her best to be diplomatic by stating:

She’s representing a group of girls right now as well. I think people right now are too quick to give too many accolades to new people. That’s the one thing I just can’t stand. Let her do her thing. It’s not my cup of tea but she’s representing for somebody. She’s doing her thing. What are you gonna do?

Jill Scott was more direct about her reservations stating that Iggy is a “big bite” of Da Brat and Eve. The two also shared that they’ve spent time in Australia and wish the new rapper would be more authentic with her “swag” instead of speaking in what Eve refers to as a “blaccent.”

Check out the full interview below. The segment about Iggy Azalea comes at the 8:15 mark.
