According to her Facebook page, a Wisconsin state representative witnessed incidents that led up to the fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man in Madison, where protesters have since gathered.
The shooting on Friday is already gaining national attention — as it is the latest in a string of incidents where the actions of officers on duty have come into question. On her Facebook page, she wrote
Earlier this evening I pulled into the gas station on Williamson Street, simultaneously there were some incidents across the street that resulted in an officer-involved shooting. It was an unspeakable tragedy. I’m heartbroken for everyone involved and for my community. I’ve been informed that the Department of Justice’s division of criminal investigation is on its way to the scene.
The post gave no further details, but it is clear she will have to give a much more detailed account to officials at some point.
We’ll keep you posted as this story develops.
