A Missouri man was charged on Tuesday for plotting to kill President Obama. He was taken in after meetings with an informant and an undercover officer.
Cameron James Stout asked the informant, a former member of Aryan Nation, for help in securing a rifle and in planning a way to shoot the president. Stout had drawn up diagrams of the Washington, D.C., area and planned to try to shoot the president either at the White House or at the church the president attends.
Stout had loaned out a rifle with a scope but had reobtained it and admitted that he planned to use it for the assassination attempt.
Stout said that he planned to shoot the president the next time he made an appearance in Kansas City.
Stout was ordered detained Tuesday in an appearance before a U.S. magistrate. His detention hearing will take place Thursday.
