Raven-Symone: Oprah Winfrey was right, black Twitter hates me

In a recent sit down with US Weekly, Raven-Symoné admitted that Oprah was right.

In a 2014 appearance of OWN’s Where Are They Now? series, the former child star shocked many fans by making some unorthodox statements about race and ethnicity.

“I’m an American, I’m not an African-American,” Symone, 29, boldly said at the time.

“Oh girl, you’re going to set Twitter on fire,” a shocked Winfrey replied.

Now, the newly appointed co-host at The View realizes the tv veteran’s warning was more prophetic than she initially realized. The backlash from black Twitter users has remained constant over the last several months, with no signs of backing down any time soon.

“She told me that black Twitter is going to hate me forever,” the actress lightheartedly concedes. “She was right. I love you, Oprah. She’s like everybody’s rich aunt. She’s really close to you, but she’ll never give you any of her money.
